Patience
Ignore the Word and suffer; honor God's commands and grow rich. The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, so, no more drinking from death-tainted wells! (Proverbs 13:13-14)
Do you enjoy watching Jim Cramer on CNBC? If you are not familiar with him, he is the crazed, wide-eyed, stock picking guru whose show Mad Money has provided investors with advice since 2005. Give your 8-year old a bottle of Dr. Pepper at midnight and that’s how Jim Cramer acts on his show.
Jim and his wild antics guide investment decisions for thousands of people who follow his advice every day. His show is wildly popular and is one of the highest-rated shows on CNBC. The success of the show is largely due to his original executive producer, a long-time TV veteran named Susan Krakower.
Here’s some trivia for you: What TV show, which captivated millions of Americans, did Krakower produce just prior to dreaming up Mad Money? Well, The Jerry Springer Show, of course! She went from dispensing bleeped-out F-Bombs and crazed-studio brawls, to delivering investing tips to do-it-yourself investors all across the country. Thousands of Americans are now putting their financial future into the hands of someone whose primary job is to sell advertisements through sensationalism and emotion.
Don’t let yourself be manipulated by the financial media. We are stewards while on this earth, and are responsible for managing Jesus’s money the right way.
The executives sitting around the boardroom table likely do not care about you and the purpose that God has called you to. They generally have one purpose, and one purpose only: To generate more advertising dollars. They do not care about the kingdom of God. In their eyes, YOU are the product.
The “noise” out there is relentless. “Experts” are everywhere and are eager to influence your buying and investing decisions. Tune it all out. Select your news media carefully.
The one person who demonstrated true wealth played the long game. Jesus invested in the hearts and minds of people whom he believed in. He was not out to find the next hot stock. He invested patiently and persistently and called out the “experts” for the hypocrites they were.
We are stewards while on this earth. Be vigilant to tune out the noise and stay focused on the best long-term investments.
Lord Jesus, if something is true and pleases you, help me take it to heart and invest my time and energy into it. Help me ignore the noise and any products or advice that will pull me further from you.
