Time for a Game of Twister?

For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. (2 Corinthians 5:14-15)

While visiting my mother-in-law at the nursing home recently, we decided to rummage through the cabinets in search of a board game or puzzle to pass the time with her. Maybe a puzzle or game of checkers could be a good way to spend a cold January afternoon.

As we opened up the cabinet doors, we were surprised to see……Twister?!?!

Not exactly what I expected. Even if we set aside the mobility issues of the residents, Twister would be a challenge! I can’t help but chuckle a bit to the thought of the tangled residents arguing about which hand and foot should go on which color. Often, we try to look for humor when life gets hard.

Maybe we should all keep a game of Twister on standby, even if we are unsure if or how it will be used.

When you keep a little extra cash in the bank with no specific purpose for it, who knows how God will lead you to spend it? Maybe He will prompt you to take the amazing trip with your family you have been dreaming about. Maybe He will want you to give it all away to your neighbor who just lost his job, or to a friend with an unexpected repair bill. Or maybe He will simply want you to continue praying until the purpose for the money is revealed to you.

People will tell you that keeping a little extra cash on hand is not wise. After all, you could earn a better return by investing it, right? But when we set money aside with no specific purpose, we are giving God the extra space in our bank account and lives to use it how He sees best. After all, it is all His anyway.

So keep a little extra cash on hand and pray about what Jesus should do with it. You may get all tangled up in an adventure you are not expecting!

Father, everything I have is yours. I am giving it to you in advance. Reveal to me your plans, and help me use it to put a smile on your face and further Your kingdom.
